PREPARING FOR A FORMAL DISCIPLINARY INQUIRY

 

  • Has the employee received a ‘Notification to attend a disciplinary inquiry’ Form and does the employee know the venue, ​​ date and time for the hearing; and their right to call witnesses, representatives and have an interpreter?

 

  • Have administrative arrangements for the inquiry been completed, ​​ including: venue, ​​ date and time for the hearing; ​​ witnesses and interpreter?

 

  • Have you formulated clear criteria to be proved against the employee in respect of the allegation/s on the ‘Notification to attend a disciplinary hearing’ Form?

 

  • Have you printed a blank copy of the ‘Chairperson’s Summary of a Disciplinary Inquiry’ and have you prepared yourself to assess evidence against the questions listed in the summary report?

 

  • Are you clear on the basic rules of evidence to guide the evidence to be admitted at the disciplinary inquiry? ​​
