PREPARING FOR A FORMAL DISCIPLINARY INQUIRY
Has the employee received a ‘Notification to attend a disciplinary inquiry’ Form and does the employee know the venue, date and time for the hearing; and their right to call witnesses, representatives and have an interpreter?
Have administrative arrangements for the inquiry been completed, including: venue, date and time for the hearing; witnesses and interpreter?
Have you formulated clear criteria to be proved against the employee in respect of the allegation/s on the ‘Notification to attend a disciplinary hearing’ Form?
Have you printed a blank copy of the ‘Chairperson’s Summary of a Disciplinary Inquiry’ and have you prepared yourself to assess evidence against the questions listed in the summary report?
Are you clear on the basic rules of evidence to guide the evidence to be admitted at the disciplinary inquiry?
